Emergency Financial Assistance Program

At Women Veterans for Change, we believe that no woman who has served our country should face financial hardship alone. Our Emergency Financial Assistance Program is designed to provide swift, direct financial support to women veterans in crisis, ensuring they receive the urgent relief they need to navigate difficult situations.

What We Cover

Our program provides one-time financial assistance for essential expenses, including:

  •  Rent & Mortgage Assistance – Preventing eviction or foreclosure due to financial hardship.

  • Utility Bills – Helping with overdue electricity, water, and gas bills.

  • Medical Expenses – Covering emergency healthcare costs and necessary prescriptions.

  • Childcare Assistance – Providing relief for working mothers in need of temporary childcare support.

  • Transportation Costs – Assisting with car repairs, gas, or transit for job-related or medical travel.

  • Other Urgent Needs – Evaluated on a case-by-case basis to address immediate financial crises.

Who is Eligible?

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

✔ Be a woman veteran who has served in any branch of the U.S. military (Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserves).
✔ Provide proof of service (DD214, VA card, military ID, or other documentation).
✔ Demonstrate financial need and be facing an urgent financial crisis.
✔ Show proof of hardship, such as past-due bills, eviction notices, medical invoices, or other relevant documentation.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1: Submit an Online Application
Complete our secure Emergency Assistance Application by providing your personal information, details about your financial situation, and the type of assistance you need.

Step 2: Upload Proof of Service & Financial Hardship
Attach required documents, including:

  • DD214 (Member-4 copy) or other military service verification

  • A copy of the past-due bill, eviction notice, or medical expense

  • A government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or military ID)

Step 3: Application Review & Processing
Our team will review your application within 3–5 business days. If additional information is needed, we will reach out via email or phone.

Step 4: Approval & Fund Disbursement
If approved, funds will be paid directly to landlords, utility companies, medical providers, or other relevant service providers to ensure the assistance is applied where it is most needed.

Step 5: Confirmation & Support
Once funds are disbursed, you will receive confirmation. If additional resources or referrals are available, our team will connect you with partner organizations for further assistance.
